Chocolate Chip Biscotti

Chocolate chip biscotti are simple to make! Don't get intimidated by this classic Italian snack.

  • 1 cup room temperature butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3.5 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup chocolate drops


  • Beat together butter and sugar. add eggs one by one, then add vanilla extract.
  • Add eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, one by one, beating in between each egg addition.
  • Add vanilla extract to the butter, egg, and sugar mixture, then beat.
  • Whisk together the flour with the baking powder and salt to form a dry ingredient mixture
  • Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture in small amounts. As you add more flour, you may prefer to knead with your hands.
  • Add chopped walnuts and chocolate chips to the mixture and mix to incorporate.
  • Cover dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.
  • While the dough is chilling, preheat oven to 300°F
  • Divide the dough in half, if it is difficult to work with the dough, moisten your hands with water.
  • Make a loaf shape out of each half of dough and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment.
  • Bake for 35 minutes until golden at 300°F.
  • Remove dough from oven, and increase Take out of oven, increase temperature to 350°F (170°С), after the dough has cooled enough to work with, cut into ½ inch slices.
  • Place cut side down on a baking tray and bake for approximately 7 minutes on one side, then flip and bake and 7 minutes on other side.


You can cover biscotti with dark or white chocolate for an extra treat!
