Chocolate Chip Scones

These chocolate chip scones are a delicious treat!


  • 3 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • 1 ¼ tbsp of baking powder
  • 3 ½ ounces of soft butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • zest of half a lemon
  • 2 eggs


  • Mix the flour and baking powder, then sift twice.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the soft butter and sugar, add the lemon zest. Lightly beat the eggs and mix into the butter in three steps.

  • Add the milk, a little at a time, stirring well each time so that the mixture becomes smooth.
  • Add the flour mixture in four portions, kneading a smooth, elastic dough.
  • Add the chocolate chips, and mix until incorporated.
  • Make a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator overnight.
  • The next day, grease the baking tray with oil or line it with parchment.
  • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface in a 2 inch thick layer.
  • Cut out circles or triangles - your choice! You can also use fun cookie cutters.
  • Place dough cut outs on baking tray. Brush the top with lightly whipped cream and a pinch of salt and sugar.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 15-18 minutes.
  • Allow to cool on a baking rack, and enjoy!


These scones stand on their own, but you can also enjoy them with whipped cream, jam, or just about any topping you would like.
