Chocolate Chip Scones
These chocolate chip scones are a delicious treat!
of all purpose flour
of chocolate chips
of baking powder
of soft butter
zest of half a lemon
Mix the flour and baking powder, then sift twice.
In a large bowl, whisk together the soft butter and sugar, add the lemon zest. Lightly beat the eggs and mix into the butter in three steps.

Add the milk, a little at a time, stirring well each time so that the mixture becomes smooth.
Add the flour mixture in four portions, kneading a smooth, elastic dough.
Add the chocolate chips, and mix until incorporated.
Make a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator overnight.
The next day, grease the baking tray with oil or line it with parchment.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface in a 2 inch thick layer.
Cut out circles or triangles - your choice! You can also use fun cookie cutters.
Place dough cut outs on baking tray. Brush the top with lightly whipped cream and a pinch of salt and sugar.
Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 15-18 minutes.
Allow to cool on a baking rack, and enjoy!
These scones stand on their own, but you can also enjoy them with whipped cream, jam, or just about any topping you would like.
